During this tour through the mangroves of La Boquilla, visitors enjoy an authentic experience, with direct contact with nature and the local community. The activity takes place aboard rustic handcrafted canoes, built and operated by local fishermen and native residents, who share their ancestral knowledge about the mangrove ecosystem and their traditional way of life.
The navigation is carried out at a relaxed pace through the natural mangrove channels, allowing participants to observe the vegetation, birdlife, and native wildlife of the area. Throughout the journey, community guides explain the ecological importance of mangroves, highlighting their essential role in coastal protection and biodiversity conservation.
The experience also offers insights into the history of La Boquilla, its close relationship with artisanal fishing, and the community’s ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the mangroves, providing a different perspective of Cartagena, away from traditional tourist routes.
The tour will conclude around 12:00.
